You may have been through a time in your life or a specific incident that has left you feeling low, unable to cope, unsafe, or on edge. People who have experienced trauma in any form may also have feelings of guilt and may experience mood swings. You may feel like you sometimes relive the past or may suffer flashbacks when you feel exactly as you did when the traumatic event happened.
The event may have occurred over a long time, as can happen when you are abused. Or it may be a single event – perhaps an accident, or a relationship break up, or you’ve been a victim of a crime. In either case you may find that counselling helps you to process what you’ve been through and be able to move forward with your life.
